In accordance with the provisions of the measure of the Data Protection Authority
Personal data of May 8, 2014, regarding "Identification of simplified procedures for
the information notice and the acquisition of consent for the use of cookies" is provided below
the extended information regarding the use of cookies by the site.
COOKIE INFORMATION
What are cookies
Cookies are small text strings that websites visited by the user send
to their display device, usually to the browser, where they are stored for
to then be retransmitted to the same websites upon the next visit by the same
user. While browsing a website, the user may also receive on their device
cookies sent by websites or by different web servers (so-called "third parties"), on which they may
contain some elements, such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages
of other domains present on the website that the user is visiting.
Cookies, usually present in large numbers in users' browsers and sometimes even with
features of broad temporal persistence, are used for different purposes such as
execution of computer authentications, session monitoring, storage of
information about specific configurations regarding users accessing the server, etc.
Type of cookie
Cookies are divided into two macro-categories: "technical" cookies and "profiling" cookies.
Technical cookies
Technical cookies are those used solely for the purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a
communication on an electronic communications network, or to the strictly necessary extent
necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested
by the subscriber or user to provide such service" (see art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).
They are not used for further purposes and are normally installed directly by the
owner or manager of the website. They can be divided into navigation cookies or
session, which guarantee normal navigation and use of the website (allowing,
for example, to make a purchase or authenticate to access restricted areas).
"Analytics cookies" are assimilated to technical cookies, when used directly by the
website manager, to collect information in aggregate form, on the number of users
and about how they visit the site itself. Functionality cookies allow the user to
navigation based on a series of selected criteria (for example, language, products
selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided to the same.
Another type of cookie is the so-called "Flash Cookie" (Local Shared Objects), used
within Adobe Flash Player to deliver certain content, such as video clips or animations,
in order to remember settings and preferences. Flash cookies are stored on the
device, but they are managed through a different interface compared to the one provided by the
browser used.
The Adobe website http://www.adobe.com/devnet/security.html provides information on
how to remove or disable Flash cookies related to a specific domain.
For the installation of such cookies, the prior consent of users is not required, while
the obligation to provide Information pursuant to art. 13 of the Code, which the operator of the
website, if it uses only such devices, may provide in the ways it deems most
suitable.
Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are aimed at creating profiles related to the user and are used in order to
send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the same within the scope
of web browsing. Due to the particular intrusiveness that such devices can
to have within the private sphere of users, European and Italian regulations provide
that the user must be adequately informed about their use and thus express
their valid consent.
Article 122 of the Code refers to them where it provides that "the storage of
information in the terminal device of a subscriber or a user or access to
information already stored is permitted only on condition that the contractor or
the user has given their consent after being informed in the manner
simplified as referred to in Article 13, paragraph 3" (Art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).
